A Ground Breaking Year!

HP5: Backyard Basketball for Morristown's Neighborhood House

AUG 13, 2003 - The Fifth Annual Heaven's Playground Shootout made its grand return to the Kiczek driveway on August 16, 2003. The event, celebrating five years of intense competition and charity work, was another success for the books.

While the tournament was scaled down to 8 teams, each squad put up an intense fight, with the "Old Men" becoming HP's first two-time winners. Dennis Quinn, Ross Gay, and Anthony DiGiovanni battled their way to the finals where they faced Greg Walsh, John Alexander, and Matt Goldsmith in a fierce best-of-three series. Ross Gay garnered the highly coveted MVP honors with a charged, stellar performance.

Through player fees, t-shirt sales, and personal donations, the Fifth Annual Heaven's Playground - to which some 75 people attended - made over $1,700 of which the net proceeds will go to benefit the Morristown Neighborhood House. HP recognizes the quality work of the Neighborhood House once again with this donation. We thank all participants and fans for another great year, and we look forward to seeing you next June!

HP@HC : Heaven's Playground at Holy Cross
The first 3-on-3 Heaven's Playground tournament for 2003 was held at The College of the Holy Cross in the Field House on April 12 for the benefit of HC's community service organizations — S.P.U.D and Habitat International. This tournament proved at least as lively and challenging as any previous HP contest. Team "Montana" took it deep beating "B.C.", (the Boston College 3-on-3 specialists). And, Heaven's Playground at Holy Cross also provided additional action with a heated women's tournament.
